A Happy Guest Visit from Artist, L.A. 2

L.A. 2 is a graffiti artist from the Lower East Side of Manhattan. He collaborated with Keith Haring, one of the artists in our inaugural exhibition, Make Art (In) Public, which is how CMA was able to make such a connection. Museum visitors loved collaborating with L.A. 2 and his friends on graffiti tags. They also enjoyed watching the artists in their creating process.

Spring Art Colony: Cityscapes

The Cityscapes Art Colony met during the week of March 26-3oth, 2012.We  created our own watercolors, observed the CMA neighborhood and sketched our surroundings. Have You Met Tom Burnett?

Since arriving in NYC in 1979, I’ve been balancing the many roles and energies of making music and performance art with my role in education. I have managed my time as a director, performer, writer, musician, and collaborator at venues such as PS 122, La Mama, and the Kitchen, with my role as a teaching artist, working with children of all ages to facilitate a sense of creative curiosity about themselves and the world around them. Whether it be my many years teaching toddlers and preschoolers or my time spent with elementary, middle and high schoolers, I have always found this balancing act between creating,presenting, teaching, and facilitating to be cross-inspirational, each fueling the other on my creative journeys. The samples of work here represent touchstones of each facet along the way.
