Since arriving in NYC in 1979, I’ve been balancing the many roles and energies of making music and performance art with my role in education. I have managed my time as a director, performer, writer, musician, and collaborator at venues such as PS 122, La Mama, and the Kitchen, with my role as a teaching artist, working with children of all ages to facilitate a sense of creative curiosity about themselves and the world around them. Whether it be my many years teaching toddlers and preschoolers or my time spent with elementary, middle and high schoolers, I have always found this balancing act between creating,presenting, teaching, and facilitating to be cross-inspirational, each fueling the other on my creative journeys.
