It illustrates how they collectively envision the future and what their personal impact on it will be. Come to the opening this Friday 5:30-7:00pm!


How To Peel A Potato, Among Other Things

On occasion young artists at CMA put away their paint brushes, pencils, and clay, to pick up a spatula or a spoon. You may find them wielding cutlery on carrots or carefully placing prosciutto on pizzas. It’s an inspiring sight and I was lucky enough to document a few of the chefs’ creations.


Viva Arte! Photo Album!

[ May 15, 2009; 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. ] CMA’s annual Family Benefit “Viva Arte! Mexican Modernists” was held on Friday, May 15th and raised $30,000 in support of bringing arts programs to under-served children. Nearly 250 guests took part in this fun fiesta, complete with Mariachi music, delicious Mexican food, and, of course, creative art projects! Check out these great photos.

Tribeca Film Festival Family Art Fair

On Saturday, May 2nd, Greenwich street in Tribeca transformed into the ultimate street fair and family celebration. Local schools, merchants, restaurants, and civic organizations joined together to provide a vast array of activities. It was a super fun day and CMA was right there in the mix with clay creatures and pixilation. Watch this video to see children and their families animate themselves.


Current Exhibition: Okaasan, My Mother

In May 1960, the fourth My Mother Society for Praise of Mothers, International Children’s Drawing Exhibition took place in Shiba-Tamach iMinatoku, Tokyo, Japan. This collection of portraits provides a window into the life and maternal relationships of Japanese children at that time.
This exhibition closes on June 7th, so be sure to come visit CMA before then.


Saturday Morning Stripes

Around 11:45 am on a Saturday morning, once a month, “I Like to Move It, Move it” plays loudly from Children’s Museum of the Arts’ lower level and the sounds of giggles, drum rhythms and dancing fills the space. This is the closing tradition of CMA’s Saturday Morning Stripes, a monthly opportunity for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and their families. This video shares the fun and enthusiasm of a Stripes morning at CMA.
