A Terrifying Trilogy Of Monstrous Misfortune

The goal of this class was to collaborate on a monster movie. Using various creature-making techniques that include make-up, costumes and stop-motion animation, this diverse group of filmmakers collaborated on an ambitiously epic trio of sure-to-scare shorts. Enjoy, if you dare. (The film clocks in around 20 minutes and may take a while to load, but be assured, it is well-worth the wait)


Sisters

With one film under their belt (The Grand Governors Island Miniature Golf Tournament), students from the Narrative Film Art Colony wrote the screenplay to a larger film involving dialogue, set decoration, story-boarding, prop-making, and costume design. Watch the film for a compelling story of six sisters and a dark family secret.


6th Annual Beyond the Refrigerator Door

[ September 17, 2009; 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. ] CMA’s sixth annual “Beyond the Refrigerator Door” exhibition is the exciting culmination of the work created by student artists in over thirty Summer Art Colony classes. This summer, CMA held classes at the Museum and on Governors Island. Classes included animation, filmmaking, a broad range of 2D and 3D studio arts, and performance. In addition to the students’ collaborative work, this show also features original work by CMA Teaching Artists.

Opening Reception: September 17, 6 to 8pm
Children’s Reception with programming: 4 to 6pm


Living Sculptures

In this week-long Art Colony students created their own sculptures out of wire, model magic, fabric, fur, and paint. Once completed, they brought each sculpture to life using Stop-Motion Animation. Click here to watch the final film.
