During this week’s 2D animation art colony, artists learned the depths of the 2nd Dimension. Using paper puppets, mural painting, rotoscoping, drawing, chalk and whiteboard, these young artists made many things come alive.


Animation Salad

During the first week of Art Colony at CMA, animators gathered to share a joyous animation experience. They worked with clay, cut paper, paint, magnets, large things, small things, indoors and outdoors. With their imaginations in full swing they created this ‘Animation Salad’. No dressing needed!


PS 155 William Paca School Group Animation

The fifth grade classes of P.S. 155 William Packard visited CMA to experiment with various techniques in Stop Motion animation, including found object, claymation and pixilation. Watch out or shifting faces, aliens in outer space, moving shapes and more!


Public Display

Visit CMA to view our new exhibition, Public Display: The 2nd Annual Celebration of Artwork from CMA’s Public School Partnerships. This exhibition features multimedia artwork by students attending PS 347 American Sign Language and English Lower School, PS 124 The Yung Wing School, PS 130 Hernando Desoto School, PS 3 Charrette School, Kings Collegiate Charter School, Williamsburg Collegiate Charter School, The Renaissance Charter School, Urban Assembly New York Harbor School, and School of the Future.


Woven Reflections Children’s Workshop

[ July 17, 2010; 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. ] Join CMA and No Longer Empty on Governors Island July 17th to create reflective art weavings to be installed in trees that will remain on view for the duration of the summer! The workshop, Woven Reflections led by CMA’s Teaching Artist Kristen Ossmann and NLE art assistants, aims to broaden children’s concept of ‘What is Art?’, celebrate the artist in every child and promote access to the arts for all. The workshop will be held in Nolan Park from 1-4 PM.

Coqui Frogs
