Thanks to the United Nations International School for visiting CMA this past November and making this awesome city! This city has big buildings, little buildings, and all sorts of crazy ones! This Kindergarten class really understood city needs building roads, railroad tracks, and water!


Partying with the Imagination Lab

An After School class for this young, creative, and IMAGINATIVE minds!! Having only one more class this semester they threw a party stacked full of their awesome artwork, snacks, and family! These students favorite part of every class was the talking and critiquing, a group full of forward thinking minds!


The Creation of a City at CMA

PS 276 visited CMA many times this November with each class creating a whole new city! This class has police & fire stations, stores like the gap, and schools. These 1st grade architects were inspired by their home in Battery Park City!


Masks With PS 247

PS 247’s 3rd grade students have been working hard this November at CMA! With multiple visits their 3rd grade class learned about masks from around the world, then made their own! Some masks are scary, some festive, and all colorful!

Packer Collegiate Institute visited CMA to make some pretty amazing mixed media portraits. This kindergarten class has been learning a lot about family so some portraits have parents, sibling, and even pets! others are self portraits with lots of expression! Mixed Media Murals

These mixed media murals were created through CMA’s 8-week long arts enrichment partnership with P.S. 130, Hernando De Soto School. Over 200 Pre Kindergarten and Kindergarten students contributed! Saint Aloysius Printmaking

Saint Aloysius School 4th grade class came to CMA on Monday December 6th to create some rad prints! They were inspired by the great works of Andy Warhol to make their own iconic images. They explored line, color, symbolism all in one great field trip!


The Permanent Collection

In addition to having special exhibitions, many art museums acquire works of art for their own collection. Well CMA is no different! We maintain a permanent collection of children’s artwork - children’s artwork from all over the world. Our collection consists of over 2,000 works on paper, some dating all the way back to the 1930s. CMA at PS 347 The American Sign Language and English Lower School

Check out pictures of Pre Kindergarten students creating their very own Jackson Pollock canvas using his drip technique! CMA’s Artists-in-Residency program at PS 347 The American Sign Language and English Lower School brings arts enrichment programming to all of its Pre-K through 8th grade classes (17 total!). Be sure to join us in June for our culminating exhibition, Public Display, which will showcase a year’s worth of their work at CMA.
