CMA@5 Teen Fashion Show

CMA’s @5 Teen Studio finale was one for the books. The evening showcased the work of young animators, sculptures, printmakers, and fashion designers, who capped off the evening with a star studded runway show highlighting their original designs. Look out, Project Runway.

Art Colony Presents: “Painting I” with Jamie Kelty

The first week of Art Colony at CMA was a celebration of all things paint in Painting 1. The kids explored color mixing, water color, and acrylic techniques. They observed the works of Klee, Hundertwasser, Phil Frost, Wayne Thiebauld, and Rembrandt. Our trip to the MOMA was amazing with lots of thoughtful observations and discoveries.

Art Colony Presents: “Architecture” with Gretta Johnson

On June 13th, we stuffed our backpacks with fabric, paint, cardboard, glue and tape and headed out to Governor’s Island to build some forts. Experimenting with different building concepts and materials, we made structures big and small. Walking the perimeter of the island, we drew the Manhattan skyline and bridges, collected sticks to build with and even met a civil war re-enactor!! It was a very exciting week. If you travel to Governor’s Island and visit building 14, you will probably see our pyramid space frame on the porch!
