New Mural at CMA - The Elements of Art

04.27.10

The Elements of Art, line, shape, form, space, texture, value and color, are the building blocks of every piece of artwork. Artists manipulate these elements to compose a piece of art. Additionally, the elements of art help both the viewer and the artist to describe the work, analyze what is going on in a particular piece and communicate our thoughts and findings using a common language. CMA is where children create and we felt it was important for our young artists to be familiar with the language of art. Next time you are at CMA, think about how line, shape, form, space, texture, value and color influence your work! Check out these photos of CMA staff and artists creating our new Open Art Mural!
