Watch out! Cosmodon is on the loose and running rampant throughout the universe! Egyptian Art

07.30.10

The Egyptian Art Colonist’s spent the week studying the art of Ancient Egypt. They brought much enthusiasm and hard work to their projects. We took a field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to see their collection of Egyptian art and artifacts. On Friday we celebrated with an exhibition of our art work and some S’mores making.

Dark Tales From the Clay Chamber

07.29.10

The skilled filmmakers behind this creatively creepy medley of stop-motion animated films discovered a genuine Clay Chamber in the CMA vault. They used this Clay Chamber to kickstart their already vast imaginations and to soften many hundreds of pounds of clay. With it’s globe-like appearance this particular Clay Chamber (featured in the films opening sequence) seems to date back to the 50s - though it is hard to be sure. What is certain is that the filmmakers of the July Claymation Art Colony at CMA Soho did an amazing telling some DARK TALES FROM THE CLAY CHAMBER…

Wanna know where the puppets are? At CMA! Art colony campers created wire-skeletonned puppets with a variety of materials and brought them to life over the course of a few days, the result of which is a jaunt through a colorful forest and a dip in the sea. There’s some clay in there, too.
