The Cityscapes art colony started off with a visit to the studio of painter, Douglas Martin. The students were attentive with wonderful observations, questions, and sketches. We explored the city as our theme in oil paintings, 3-Dimensional city scenes in mixed media based on the work of Red Grooms, and paper cuts and prints inspired by Swoon. Our visit to the Whitney Museum of American Art was inspirational as well! The kids also enjoyed rounds of freeze tag, making friends with the museum’s new neighbors from Panino, and bubble blowing in our spare time.
